Aesthetic Experience and Divergent Thinking…

Inspiring, and captivation animation from the RSA Animate series, illustrating a talk by Sir Ken Robinson on why we educate, how we do it, the effects it has, the constraints it makes, and the need for complete reform in our education system;

Particularly good from 06:50 onwards, when he starts talking about ‘aesthetic experience‘ (as opposed to anaesthetic experience…) when you are ‘in the moment’, fully engaged and feeling alive. He also defines creativity relative to ‘divergent thinking’ and illustrates the problem with our education system by a simple anecdote of a study that claims our ability to solve problems deteriorates after we’ve been through ‘education’…
